  • A tribute to director Mario Martone and a celebration for the Neapolitan animated film that has won awards all over the world. The twelfth edition of 41st Parallel takes place at New York University on 30 November and 7 December. This year the festival promotes new Campanian cinema with two important events that tie in with the presentation of the winning films of the SchermoNapoli sections of Napolifilmfestival 2015. It will be an opportunity to introduce our talents to an American audience of students, enthusiasts and industry insiders.

  • The 2015 winners are: Giusy Lodi: Best Actress for BELLISSIMA by A. Capitani, Gianfelice Imparato: Best Actor for LA SMORFIA by E. Palamara, Best Short Film: TEATRO by Ivan Ruiz Flores, and Best Documentary: COSTELLAZIONI by Luigi Cuomo.

  • On 30 Nov at the Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò(24 West 12th Street New ~ NY 10011) we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Mario Martone film L'AMORE MOLESTO (NASTY LOVE), as yet unreleased in the US and based on the famous novel by Elena Ferrante, the secretive writer now rapidly gaining popularity in America. There will also be a screening of the Neapolitan director's latest work, PASTORALE CILENTANA, made for the Pavilion Zero of Milan Expo 2015.

  • 7 December will bring an opportunity to celebrate the success of the MAD Entertainment production company, the new flagship factory of Italian animated film that is injecting new life into the industry in Campania: we will in fact present the best animated short films from the 2015 festival (the winning entry FACING OFF by Maria di Razza – a multiple international award-winner –CHELL 'CA SENT and Mr. J.) as well as three works made by or related to the MAD factory: L'ARTE DELLA FELICITA' by Alessandro Rak, whose trophies include the EFA 2014(European Oscars) award for best animation, the traditional story CANTATA DEI PASTORI, admirably revived in animated form by Nicola Basile, and MEZZANOTTE DEI SEGNI by Marino Guarnieri, a fantasy short of great appeal with a story suspended between dream and reality.
  •
  • ''Another opportunity", explains Mario Violini, director of Napolifilmfestival, "to go to the other side of the parallel linking Naples to New York and highlight the cultural richness and creativity of our region's filmmakers, despite the extreme difficulties faced by the industry – a long-time victim of inadequate financial and regulatory support''.
