Margaret Mazzantini

She is an Italian writer, playwright and actress, born in Dublin on October 27, 1961 and then moved to Tivoli at age 3. Daughter of art, by writer Carlo Mazzantini and Irish painter Anne Donnelly, graduated in 1982 at the National Academy of Dramatic Art "Silvio D'Amico" in Rome. In 1987 she married actor and director Sergio Castellitto, from whom she had four children. The 1994 literary debut, when with the novel The Basin Zinc, won two prizes, the Rapallo-Carige and the Campiello. After a few plays (Manola, from 1995 to 1998, until the novel's release in 2000, Zorro, a Hermit on the Sidewalk in 2004) in collaboration with her husband, Sergio Castellitto, the great success comes with her novel Don’t Move, winner of the 2002 Premio Strega; then come to the world (2008) and You can’t save yourself alone (2011), thanks also to the cinema transpositions directed by her husband.
