Brief synopsis:
On a cold winter day Sergey Sobolev, a Major in a local police station, is driving to the hospital where his wife is about to give birth to their child. He is immensely happy but is driving too fast and hits a boy on the roadside, killing him. Now the major has two choices: go to jail or hide the crime. Sobolev decides to make a deal with his conscience and calls a colleague to get him out of the situation. But matters get complicated when Sobolev finally changes his mind and tries to pay for his deed ... but by now it is too late
Note:
What happens when one day you make a mistake that destroys your life? Would you be ready to pay the consequences, even if it ruins the happiness of your family? Would you be prepared to kill someone to hide that mistake? All the characters in this film have to choose whether or not to cross the line, which means you –as well as your loved ones – make have to pay the price. And after all, the Major is just an ordinary man. The idea for the film came from an incident that happened in Russia on 19 February 2010. On that day, Major Yevsukov of the militia (the Russian police) shot nine people in a supermarket. This event trigger something in society and detonated a series of incidents driven by accumulated hatred for the law enforcement authorities. But a story that was originally supposed to serve as proof of the wickedness of the police system, eventually evolved into the controversial story of a person with authority. Any civilian could find himself in the same situation as this person. And basically we, society, who make demands of the authorities, complain about things that are part of the imperfections of each of us. In a way, the Major represents the problems of Russian society as a whole. But he shows in a way that is contrary to what society expects. The people who hate the authorities often forget that are in power are normal people, not alien monsters.
