Brief synopsis:

Drawn by Franz Kafka’s famous novel. Josef K. (Anthony Perkins) is interrogated by a mysterious character who never reveals his identity, although he acts like a policeman. He gets arrested and taken to the Supreme Court. In court he makes several curious and bizarre encounters and in this sort of nightmare suspended between realty and mystery he meets his lawyer who should defend him (Welles) but he doesn’t seem to take part of the injustice Josef received. Two creepy characters will kill Josef as he slowly gives up to evident injustice. This is one of Welles’ masterpieces, with a theatrical setting and fascinating claustrophobic scenography and wide-angle shootings. A small budget film, it had its greatest success in France and it was restored in a decent Blu-ray version copy only in 2012.
