Bologna, the early 1990s. Roman property dealer Luciano Baietti is about to marry Fiamma, a beautiful but abstruse woman and the mother of his two sons, Paolo and Baldo. He also has her sign over two apartments to him. However, on the day of the wedding Luciano gets cold feet, abandons wife and kids and disappears in the company of his business partner Sergio Bollino. Years later Luciano finds himself with serious economic problems and in order to avoid liability, has to place his business concerns in the name of someone else. The choice lands with Baldo, his youngest son with Fiamma.
