Orville, a piano teacher in the little town of Climax, unexpectedly finds himself hosting a famous singer overnight in his house. Anxious to protect his wife from the guest's cavalier attentions, he hatches the plan of substituting his wife with the accommodating waitress from the Belly-Button Café. The ploy works and Orville is satisfied, believing that the singer's happy liaison with his presumed hostess will lead to some success for Orville's songs. However, intent on preserving his albeit imposter wife's honour, he ends up expelling his illustrious guest from the house. The singer in turn ends up spending the night with she whom he believes to be the comely cafe waitress, but who is in fact Orville's wife, intent on exacting her revenge. The following morning sees everyone back in their rightful place; the singer makes a hit of one of Orville's songs.
