EDOARDO LEO

Type: 
Born in Rome on 21 April 1972. He is an actor, director and screenwriter, having graduated in Arts at the La Sapienza University in Rome in 1999. In 2001 he starred in La Banda directed by Claudio Fragasso, with whom he also worked on TV. He is known to the public for the television series Un medico in famiglia (he has appeared in the third and fourth seasons). In the 2000s he worked on two football-themed mini-series, the first in 2002, Ma il portiere non c’è mai? and the second in 2005, Ho sposato un calciatore. Leo's passion for football doesn't end there because in 2000 he also founded a team, the Calciattori Team, with the purpose of organising matches for charity. In 2007 he starred opposite Pierfrancesco Favino in Free to play Liberi di giocare by Francesco Micciche. He directed his first film in 2010, Diciotto anni dopo, which he also wrote and appeared in. The film received two David di Donatello and Silver Ribbon nominations. The screenplay won the Age prize and received awards at Annecy, Trieste, Montpellier and St. Louis festivals That same year, he acted alongside Gigi Proietti in the television drama Il signore della truffa. In 2011 he appeared with Claudio Amendola in Dov’è mia figlia? a TV miniseries. He also had a small part in Woody Allen's To Rome With Love. In 2012 he shot his second film as director, a story called Buongiorno papà, with Raoul Bova in the lead role. He was nominated for the David di Donatello in 2014 for his performance in Smetto quando voglio by Sydney Sibilia.
