Pinuccio Lovero. Sogno di una morte di mezza estate

At the age of forty he has finally been given a short term position as caretaker of the cemetery of Mariotto, a little hamlet near Bitonto, in the scorched Italian south. In the sweltering midsummer heat, he awaits his first funeral. The fact is, since his arrival five months ago, no one has passed on to a better life. Pinuccio sweats and the villagers rejoice. But sooner or later someone will die and Pinuccio waits faithfully before the gates of ‘his' cemetery. The temporary gravedigger Pinuccio Lovero and everyone who take part in his daily life offer the opportunity of a trip to a southern provincial locality, photographed one step away from its extinction.
