Venice. Carlotta Gatti, a girl with an unfulfilled dream of dancing in a musical, loses her job as a dancer job at night club after being caught up in a police raid. The bail payment to get out of jail drains the savings of Carlotta and her laid-back brother Mattia, who is also recently out of work. But they somehow have to find money to pay rent to Naresh, the young Indian they live with. And so they are forced to accept jobs as “corpse cleaners” at the Pavan undertakers business. As they undress their first corpse, Carlotta finds the secret diary of the deceased and notices how real life never measures up to one's dreams. So Carlotta and Mattia come up with an idea for a new funeral ceremony, the Gran Finale, which will change their lives forever and that of others...
