14.10.11 Alessandro Siani

Comedian and actor Alessandro Siani was born in Naples in 1975 and began his career at the Tunnel Cabaret in the centre of Naples. He soon started to appear on local television and became known thanks through his hilarious comic characters in shows like Telegaribaldi and Pirates.

In 2003 he made his RAI debut on the cabaret show Bulldozer, presented by Federica Panicucci who also acted as his feed. In 2004 his theatre show Fiesta enjoyed huge success, as did Tienimi Presente the year after. Siani made his first film appearance in 2006 in Ti lascio perché ti amo troppo, scripted by Siani and his regular writing partner Francesco Albanese, and directed by

Francesco Ranieri Martinotti. Siani took the award for best actor at the Giffoni Festival. In the same year Neri Parenti cast him in Natale a New York, the first of the Christmas cinepanettone comedies without Massimo Boldi: Siani's ability to export his humour beyond the Campania region

contributed to the success of the film. Neri called him again the following year for Natale in Crociera.

Meanwhile, the Neapolitan comic got his second selfpenned film into the cinemas: La seconda volta non si scorda mai, again directed by Martinotti and co-starring Elisabetta Canalis. In 2010, Siani reached the peak of his film success with his highly appealing character Mattia in Benvenuti al Sud by Luca Minieri. This Italian remake of Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis met with resounding success, bringing in thirty million euro at the box office. The winning combination with Claudio Bisio is set to return next year in a sequel: Benvenuti al Nord. In the meantime, this autumn Siani co-stars in La peggiore settimana della mia vita, creating a new comic double act with Fabio De Luigi. the Neaploitan actor made his first foray into dubbing this year, lending his voice to one of the Cars2 characters.
