Born in London in 1974. His father is a British citizen from London and his mother is from Matera. The family moved to Pisa where Roan took a degree in Modern Literature. He attended the Experimental Centre of Cinematography in Rome. He made his debut in 2002 as a writer for various television dramas including Commissario De Luca and Raccontami. For the cinema he wrote Ora o mai più by Lucio Pellegrini. His first directing job was an episode of the 2005 film produced by Paolo Virzi, 4-4-2. Il gioco più bello del mondo. Einaudi published his first novel in 2010, Prove di felicità a Roma Est Prize, winner of the Premio Giuseppe Berto. The following year he made his debut feature film I primi della lista.
