In 1910 Havana, prostitution was a thriving business ruled by French procurers. San Isidro district was their realm until the arrival of Alberto Yarini Ponce de Leon, a well-bred young man with political ambitions who became the most famous procurer of his time. Yarini’s legend reached its peak when he won the affections of La Petite Bertha, the gem of Louis Letot’s harem, the ringleader of French pimps. Alberto was killed.
