He was born in Naples in 1963, he graduated in Film history and criticism at the La Sapienza University of Rome and he got his diploma in Film Direction at the Film Experimental School; between 1990 and 1998 he directed and produced the documentary films Piccola America, Lettere dall'America and L'America a Roma, which form the Trilogy of America; afterwards Latina/Littoria 2001, a documentary film with which , still in 2001, he was awarded for the best non-fiction work at the Turin Film Festival and in 2003 at the Mediterranean Film Festival– Rai Award. In 2004 he filmed Io che amo solo te, his first full-length fiction film. In 2008 his documentary film Il sol dell'avvenire, created and written with Giovanni Fasanella and presented as a special event at the International Film of Locarno, at the Biennale in 2008 and at the International Documentary Film Festival of London. In 2014, along with the medium length film Tritcme la bula, he brought to completion the full-length film Sul vulcano. He teaches Documentary Filming at the Dams of the University of Rome Three and Film Direction at the Film Experimental School of Rome and L'Aquila. Essayist and author, he writes for the on-line magazine Il Documentario.it and is in charge of the Open Eyes Section at the Medfilm Festival of Rome.
