Her real name is Anna Cecchi, costume designer for films, opera and stage plays. She was born in Rome on March 5th 1952. Her first important work was for the Opera House of Rome; she designed the costumes for Ernani by Giuseppe Verdi in the production where Bruno Bartoletti was the orchestra conductor. She began working for films in 1983 with the director Giacomo Battiato (with whom she would work for Stradivari in 1988 and Una vita scellerata (Wicked life) in 1990), I paladini – Storia d’armi e d’amori. On this occasion she won the David di Donatello Award. Then she started as a professor at the Accademia Internazionale per le Arti e le Scienze dell’immagine (School of the Arts and Movie Science) in the city of L’Aquila. She also taught at the Accademia Rossiniana of Pesaro and at the La Sapienza University of Roma. In 1985 she played a small role and designed costumes for the famous LadyHawke by Richard Donner starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Rutger Hauer. She won the Saturn Award for the costumes of this film. In 1987 she won the Osella Prize for costume design in Giuliano Montaldo’s Gli occhiali d’oro the at the Venice Film festival. Another important film for her was in 1995, Il primo cavaliere (First Knight) with Richard Gere and Sean Connery. In 2002 she collaborated with Pupi Avati for his film I cavalieri che fecero l’impresa and was awarded at the Sannio Film Festival. Then she designed the costumes for Christine Cristina, the film directed by Stefania Sandrelli in 2010, for which she was awarded with the Golden Globe from the Foreign Press Association in Italy.
