Amanda Kernell was born in 1986 in Umeå, from a Swedish mother and father sámi. She graduated from the National Film School of Denmark in Copenhagen in 2013, beginning her career as a film director, screenwriter and teacher. In 2007 she directed her first short film Våra discon, which will be followed by several others, including Att dela allt (2009) and Stoerre Vaerie (2015). Inspired by his sámi origins, in 2016 he debuted with his first feature film Sámi Blood, referring to events and stories of elderly relatives and people belonging to this ethnic group. The film is worth the prize for the best film at the Europa Cinemas Label and the best director for debut at the 73rd Venice Film Festival.
