Bruno Dumont, after attempting to pass the admission test at the IDHEC Film Studies School in 1977, attended the faculty of Philosophy. He teaches for a few years then starts making shorts, commercials and documentaries. In 1993 the first short film titled Paris. Three years later the first feature film In 1996, he wrote and directed his first feature film The life of Jesus, he received a special mention at the Cannes Film Festival and the Jean-Vigo Award the following year. In 1999 his film Humanite’ obtained the Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, where he also participated with the following two TwentynIne Palms (2003) and Flandres (2006). The latter again gets the Special Grand Prix at Cannes. Juliette Binoche will be the actress in 2013 of his biographical version about Camille Claudel titled Camille Claudel 1915, after the previous version with Isabelle Huppert and Gerard Depardieu. After a tv series in 2014 projected at Cannes and another film arrives his version of the legendary Joan of Arc. Jeanette, the childhood of Joan of Arc was screened at the Quinzaine des Realisateurs in Cannes 2017.
