From here, beginning a journey that will traverse two continents, it is first donated, collected, then sold and bought several times, until it reaches its destination and is donned by its new and ultimate owner: Lucky, a nine year old boy in a remote village in Tanzania. Events, places and people create the mosaic that is the trade in used clothes; a long a sinuous road that unveils a surprising reality.

The curious gaze of the artists Jan Fabre, John Turturro, Yoshi Oida and Peter Gordon, protagonists and accomplices (sometimes unknowingly), sideline the visible city, decrepit and without hope, evincing the invisible city, which reveals itself more than the saturated eye can perceive in daily life.

Many of these are from Campania and work in the catering trade. The film, showing what Italy's World Cup victory in Germany means to these people, focuses on one particular emigrant. Fifty-six year old Nello de Martino from Sorrento left for Berlin 35 years ago to be goalkeeper for the Hertha Berlin football club. De Martino now works as a goalkeeper trainer, and during the World Cup tournament he was appointed Team Liaison Officer for the Italian side, thus making a personal contribution to the efforts of the Azzurri.

In the end the bookshop's doors stayed open, but in a different location: the porticoes of Piazza del Plebiscito, a prestigious site but currently very isolated. The film recounts the unfolding of this story but also asks what was, what is and what will be the role of the bookseller in the distribution of print literature, given the existence of new competition in the form of megastores, shopping malls, and even newsstands, which sell books at knock-down prices.

Their words help reveal a hitherto unknown but in many ways positive aspect of this country. An aspect that upturns a common western perception of Iran, characterised by floggings, martyrdom and war.

A montage of images set to music, it brings to light the city and its contrasts: from wonderful panoramic views to sequences showing only faces, to a series of sacred images, testifying to the importance of religion in the lives of Neapolitans. In a continual flux of contrasting “snapshots” and portraits of a disparate range of localities, such as the marvellous Posillipo and the surreal Secondigliano, "Neapolis" unfolds in a multitude of directions, presenting an insightful and emotive portrait of the city.

What emerges is a portrait of a generation squeezed between contradictions and hope, with war as a perennial feature. The historical and social background of the film, shot in Italy, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq, has one name: Ist'imariyah - Colonialism.

The most interesting discovery is their talent for the game of cricket - both playing it and organising tournaments, complete with trophies and cash prizes. This, in a country such as Italy, where most people do not even know the meaning of this word. Sagara and his Naples cricket team, after having found a sponsor and a bus, set off in the middle of the night for a national tournament, in search of glory and success at least for a day.

In the film, Isabella Rossellini's voice is heard off camera as she guides us through the personal testimonies of Umberto Tirelli's collaborators and friends, which include actors and directors who worked and continue to work with the “sartoria”.
