Hubert is a 16-year-old Québécois living in suburban Montreal with his single mother, Chantale, who divorced Hubert's father, Richard, when Hubert was much younger. Hubert barely sees his father, and this adds to the animosity between mother and son. At school Hubert claims to his teacher, Ms Cloutier, that his mother is dead. After the teacher finds out that it is a lie, she expresses this lie as "you killed your mother." This inspires Hubert to write an essay for school titled I killed my mother.

Nato a Napoli il 7 Dicembre 2000,Jay Ruggiano è un attore, regista e scrittore. Dal 2011 al 2013 entra a far parte della Compagnia Teatrale “TabulaRasa” diretta da Mauro Palumbo. Dal 2016 entra come studente nella celebre Accademia delle Arti Teatrali Teatro Totó di Napoli diretta da Gaetano Liguori. Nel 2017 dirige e interpreta il cortometraggio Romance de La Guardia Civil di Federico Garcia Lorca. Alla fine del 2018 scrive il cortometraggio di denuncia sociale Scenario.
La storia e la memoria dell'ex Ospedale Psichiatrico Giudiziario di Sant'Eframo Nuovo, raccontate attraverso il diario e le poesie di un ex detenuto (Michele Fragna), s'intrecciano con le immagini di una primavera di cambiamento e dell'attuale processo di riqualificazione di uno degli edifici storici più grandi e sconosciuti di Napoli.
