Guests at NFF 2007

Joel and Ethan Coen, are Oscar-winning American filmmakers. For more than 20 years, the pair have written and directed numerous successful films, ranging from comedies to film noir, to movies where those two genres blur together. The brothers write, direct and produce their films jointly, although until recently Joel received sole credit for directing and Ethan for producing.

Febbraio 1939. I repubblicani spagnoli si dirigono in Francia per fuggire dalla dittatura di Franco. Il governo francese confina i rifugiati in campi di concentramento, dove si riesce a malapena a soddisfare il bisogno di igiene, acqua e cibo. È in uno di questi campi che due uomini, separati dal filo spinato, diventeranno amici. Uno è una guardia, e l’altro è Josep Bartolí (Barcellona 1910 – New York 1995), un illustratore che combatte il regime franchista.

Joseph L. Mankiewicz

Joseph Leo Mankiewicz was born in Pennsylvania in 1909 from two Jews immigrated from Germany. When Joseph turned four years old the family moved to New York and at 19 years old he graduated from Columbia University. Then he found a job at the UFA translating and subtitling films from German into English. Before becoming a director, Joseph's brother Hermann won an Oscar writing with Orson Welles Citizen Kane, in 1941. His first film is Dragonwyck in 1946, with Vincent Price, while the first film worth mentioning is The Ghost and Ms.

Juan Carlos Cremata

Juan Carlos Cremata Malberti was born in Cuba in 1961. After a short film in 1990 entitled Oscurosrinocerontesenjaualados…muy a la moda (Very fashionable… dark rhinos in a cage), he made his debut in the fiction film with Nada (Nothing) in 2001, a story set inside an office overloaded by bureaucracy. The film won prizes at the Havana Festival and in Cartagena. Viva Cuba is of 2005 and participated in the Festivals of Mar del Plata and Chicago.

Julia Ducournau (Parigi, 18 novembre 1983) è una regista e sceneggiatrice francese. Ha frequentato La Fémis, la Scuola Nazionale francese di Cinema, dove si è diplomata nel 2008, e si è specializzata nel campo della sceneggiatura. Il suo primo cortometraggio, Junior, è stato presentato al Festival di Cannes 2011, mentre il suo primo lungometraggio, Raw - Una cruda verità, è stato presentato cinque anni più tardi alla Settimana internazionale della critica di Cannes, dove ha ricevuto il Premio FIPRESCI.
