E' un omaggio al leggendario testo "La voce umana" di Jean Cocteau. (l'ultima uscita a Venezia è diretta da Pedro Almodovar e interpretata da Tilda Swinton)
Ma a differenza delle altre versioni (Anna Magnani/Rossellini, Sophia Loren, Simone Signoret, Liv Ulman) in questo corto la donna, nella sua ultima telefonata alla persona che ama, non è l'amante evidente di un uomo sposato.
In un colpo di scena a metà della storia, scopriamo che dall'alto del telefono non c'è un uomo ma un'altra donna.
1956, Naples. In the suburbs of the city there is a displaced persons camp where a 11-year-old child, Vittorio, dreams about America while watching the films of the Bolivar Movie Theatre. Two women attract him in particular, the actress Susan Hayward and Ruth, the American wife of a general of NATO, who seduces him. Taken from the novel of the same title published in 1956 and written by Francesco Costa.
A well-off family, unmistakably urban, is trapped in the small world they have built at their measure. Each member of the family is fighting alone to rescue whatever can justify them. Luis goes through his teenage years discovering around him men and women who are both guilty and innocent.

Synopsis

Antonio Ricci, un uomo come tanti in cerca di lavoro nella Roma post seconda guerra mondiale. Potrebbeavere un lavoro come attacchino ma gli serve una bicicletta. La sua però l’aveva impegnata e per poterla riscattare deve chiedere alla moglie di fare a meno delle lenzuola. Finalmente può lavorare ma mentre sta attaccando un manifesto pubblicitario ecco che qualcuno gli ruba la preziosa due ruote. Visto che allaPolizia non danno molta importanza per il furto comincia la caccia alla bicicletta e al ladro.
Philippe Gaston is a thief known as "The Mouse" who commits little thefts during the thirteenth century. While he is going to be executed he manages to flee; afterwards he is saved by another arrest made by Etienne Navarre, a retired guard captain. So, Navarre and his inseparable hawk are Philippe’s new friends. The reason why Etienne rescues him is that he wants Philippe to help him kill the Bishop. Philippe does not want to and Navarre ties him up; then, after fleeing and meeting a savage wolf, Philippe is saved by a mysterious beautiful woman.
